Man sentenced for spreading HIV, Samdrup Jongkhar

Samdrup Jongkhar District Court sentenced a 38-year-old man from Trashi Yangtse to three years in prison for the offence of criminal nuisance. He was convicted of spreading the  Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) to two women.

Both walk-in & appointment system in place at JDWNRH’s Dental Dept.

The Dental Department of the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH) in Thimphu now treats walk-in patients.Earlier, with the dental services made available only through an appointment system, people had to wait for weeks to avail themselves of such services.

Athletic festival for children

About 100 children between the age group of 6 to 12 years old participated in the one-day athletic festival in Samdrup Jongkhar thromde today. This kind of event is organized for the first time in the thromde.

Import of food items from India decreased by about Nu 700 M

Bhutan's expenditure on import of food items from India decreased by around Nu 700 M in 2018 as compared to 2017. The country imported food items worth Nu 5.9bn last year as compared to Nu 6.6bn in 2017. The decrease in monetary value is owing to a decrease in the amount of food items imported from India.

3 tshogpas of Gase Tshogongm sentenced to 3 months in prison

The Wangdue Phodrang district court sentenced three chiwog tshogpas of Gase Tshogongm gewog to three months each in prison, yesterday. They were convicted for lack of accountability and transparency and failing to carry out their responsibilities. They can, however, pay in place of their imprisonment.
