Long line of huts razed in Thimphu

A long line of huts, which housed 13 families, was razed to the ground in Changzamtog, Thimphu, at 4 PM, today. Two cylinders also exploded, leaving shattered splinters on the road.

Third suspect allegedly involved in Taxi driver murder surrenders

(Update): The third suspect, allegedly involved in the murder of a 50-year-old taxi driver, surrendered to Thimphu Police on Saturday. “Soon after the announcement in electronic and print media, RBP received inputs from an informer that the suspect is at Kakarvitta in Nepal with his distant relatives,” said the Chief of Police, Brigadier Kipchu Namgyel.

Stranded Bhutanese in Nepal to be brought back by road

Bhutanese stranded in Nepal will be brought to the country by road. They will be dropped at Kakarvitta in Nepal which borders India. From Kakarvitta, officials from Phuentshogling will mobilise buses to transport them to Bhutan.

Sharp hike in fuel price

Petrol and diesel prices were revised upwards by Rs 3.9 and Rs 2.3 a litre in India yesterday midnight. The revision in Bhutan will happen midnight today with more or less the same rate of increase.

Wangdue Phodrang Dzong’s restoration slightly delayed

The restoration of Wangdue Phodrang Dzong is likely to be slightly delayed. The work was supposed to be complete by 2018.
