The parliament saw deliberation on the Annual Audit Report of 2012. The prominent issues that dominated the deliberation were making individuals and institutions held accountable for their actions. The need to have the audit clearance for employees of some of the corporate sectors in the country was discussed.

The Dramedtse-Ngatshang MP, Ugyen Wangdi, in the National Assembly today, asked the government why over 3,000 graduates had to sit for the preliminary examination of the Bhutan Civil Service Examinations (BCSE).

The Finance Minister, Namgay Dorji, presented the national budget for the financial year 2013-14 in the National Council, today. He said the focus this year is on growth stimulation, employment generation and addressing the rupee shortage.

An outbreak of Dengue fever has been reported in Phuentshogling. As per the records maintained with the Phuentshogling General Hospital, the number has increased significantly as compared to last year. On an average 13 cases are being reported in a month.

About 40 officials from government organizations and private sector are being familiarized on different international agreements under World Trade Organization.  The training is aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of officials on the international trading systems.    Benefits and challenges of being a WTO member and issues related to international trade will also be familiarized to the participants. The training is the collaborated by Department of Trade and Temasek Foundation Centre for Trade and Negotiations based in Singapore

The Speaker Sri Lanka’s Parliament, Chamal Jayantha Rajapaksa, along with eight-member delegation called on the Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang yesterday.

The Bhutanese delegation led by the foreign minister, Rinzin Dorje, is in New York attending the 68th Regular Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Parliamentarians today questioned the Public Accounts Committee on why the outstanding irregularities and debt of the two political parties Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) were still reflected in the Audit Report of 2012.

The Regional Revenue and Customs Office in Phuentshogling confiscated goods worth Nu.700,000. The goods were intercepted on the highway near the customs office on Friday at around 8.30 pm. An informer tipped off the Customs officials.
