Hamada city lends a hand to promote creative industries

The Japanese city of Hamada will assist Bhutan in the areas of traditional artwork, education, culture and promotion of industries. An agreement to this effect was signed this morning.

On the run convict apprehended

(Update:) The 29-year-old inmate Kancha Rai, who had escaped Chamgang Central Jail in Thimphu on Sunday, was arrested from Tanalum in Chhukha, this afternoon. Kancha Rai had hailed a cab and was trying to flee to Phuentsholing. But he suspected that the driver recognised him and fled. The taxi driver then alerted the police base in Tsimatsham. He was arrested from near Wangchu River.

Man detained for alleged rape of a teenager

A 24-year-old man, hailing from Zhemgang has been detained by the Zhemgang police on Sunday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl student. He was detained after the girl’s parents lodged a complaint to the police.

The first gewog Zomdu of Zhemgang Dzongkhag for the upcoming National Council election was held at Trong Gewog yesterday. The Zomdu was first of eight gewogs’ under Zhamgang. Some 200 people attended the Zomdu.
