Her Majesty Queen Mother Tseyring Pem Wangchuck graced the Bhutan Youth Development Fund’s 25th anniversary celebrations yesterday. The event was held at the Nazhoen Pelri YDF hall in Thimphu. As part of the celebration, Her Majesty presented awards to donor agencies and scholarships to the winners of the Golden Youth Award.

Her Majesty Queen Mother Tseyring Pem Wangchuck, in her address, congratulated the YDF on their silver jubilee.

“Let us continue to pioneer change, inspire vision and champion hope. My dear family, congratulations on reaching 25 years. We have come this far together. It has been a collective effort. And I’ll be there for all of you, through all times.”

The YDF also reaffirmed their commitment to building a brighter future for Bhutanese youth.

“On this day, the YDF pledge our commitment and rededicate to fulfil your aspirations to continue fulfilling His Majesty’s vision. And I also submit the pledge of our young volunteers in action, our scholar students, to participate in nation-building as productive citizens. May we all aspire to be like you Your Majesty, the quiet hero who changes the world,” said Dorji Ohm, Executive Director of Bhutan Youth Development Fund.

Her Majesty also presented the Queen Mother Tseyring Pem Wangchuck Award (QMTPW Award) to several local and international organisations that have been supporting the YDF.

Additionally, scholarships to UWC Mahindra College were awarded to the winners of the 16th Golden Youth Award.

“YDF gives the youth the opportunity to become better versions of themselves. In the end, as we all know, the youths of today are the stakeholders of the future. And they will determine where our country will reach in the future. So, I think YDF plays a very important role in shaping the future of our country and YDF is what makes the youth into the future leaders of the country,” said Eden Lucky Tshomo, Winner of the Golden Youth Award.

“The YDF has been a great part of my life. It has given me the opportunity to learn skills in the Golden Youth camp last year. The Golden Youth Award has given me new knowledge and skills for my life,” said Palden Dorji, runner-up of the Golden Youth Award.

His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo established the Bhutan Youth Development Fund in 1999. The Civil Society Organisation aims to empower all young Bhutanese by ensuring equal access to education, meaningful employment, and opportunities to develop their full potential.
