The third Gross National Happiness Commission meeting held on Monday discussed four policies which need to be approved. Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering shared this during the signing of the Annual Performance Agreement with the central agencies on the same day.
“The first one is Hygiene and Sanitation Policy. Whatever we talk, legally there is no policy in place so far. The policy will help the Health, and Works and Human Settlement Ministries for implementation to improve hygiene and sanitation. The second one is the National Housing Policy and we have also approved Human Settlement Policy last time. The third one is the National Construction Industry Policy. The fourth one is on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). We felt it is not working very well. It is important to bring it to the main stream education. It needs to be segregated from the Labour Ministry. We discussed about forming an independent body for TVET,” Lyonchhen said.
