As the super cyclonic storm Amphan wreaked havoc in the coastal areas of Bangladesh and eastern India since Wednesday, Bhutan also felt its mild impact with a few reports of roadblocks and crop damages. The country experienced a continuous rainfall as well.
The incessant rainfall triggered roadblocks along the Gyalposhing-Nganglam highway and at Reotala in Trongsa. In Tsirang, it damaged maize fields belonging to six households. Monggar also reported of similar crop damage from Kengkhar. Also in Monggar, the strong wind blew off roofs of a household in Wangmakhar chiwog in Chali Gewog. It was restored later.
Internet services in the country were disrupted as well. According to the service providers, the cyclone affected its international link providers in India.
