With the parliamentary elections drawing closer, there are rumours and speculations that some of the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa members are leaving the Party and some would not be given the Party ticket, as they have already identified the next candidate. Brushing off this rumours and speculation, the Party Secretary, Thinley Jamtsho, said that they have not yet done the evaluation of their members.
“We do have some time for the members’ evaluation,” said the Secretary. “Neither did we receive anyone expressing interest to join our Party nor did we offer anyone.”
He said screening out some of the MPs is one of the most challenging jobs. He said the party office will start working only after the serving members resign.
“To change and replace is one of the biggest challenges but the main thing what we need is a person who will work for the people and the country. In 2013, there could be some who need to be replaced and few might resign but we need to work on procedures so that we don’t face problem later,” said Thinley Jamtsho.
