The Desuung National Service Water Project has now become a household name. People admire their work. They have solved water shortage problems in many places across the country. This time, they are at Debsi in Thimphu for yet another project.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the water source in Ngabirongchu today.

In six months from now, more than 13,000 residents of Debsi in Thimphu is expected to get sufficient drinking water. Debsi was once a small village with few houses. But today, there are nearly three hundred households. Debsi is commonly known as ‘Aussie land’ since most of the Bhutanese in Australia bought land and houses here.

“Many people bought land and constructed houses in Debsi leading to water shortage. We installed a water pump but the problem continued. There is water shortage in other areas as well but it is worst in Debsi,” said Thimphu Dzongda Dorji Tshering.

140 Desuups will work on the project worth Nu 52 M.  Thimphu Dzongkhag also submitted the list of other areas with water problems to the ministry of works and human settlement. And the Desuups will once again rise to the occasion.
