Concerns over patrol teams invading privacy

Some people are raising privacy concerns as patrol teams, sometimes, visit their houses and question them. According to the Prime Minister, this might have happened in some exceptional cases. Lyonchhen said they need to abide by the protocol and only visit with valid reasons.

“Few exceptional cases might be there but it is not right. Those that are patrolling are Royal Bhutan Police and they have their own rules and guidelines. They have to abide by their laws. Those that visit at ad-hoc are health personnel and they are allowed to do that. But if they visit without any manners knocking on every door without a proper reason, then inform us. Generally speaking, there is no reason to do that and it is not allowed. If they were to do that, there should be a clear reason as to why,” said Dr Lotay Tshering, the Prime Minister.
