More chillies for Thimphu residents

Agriculture ministry imported 10 metric tons of Chili from Kolkata, India on December 7. After distributing a part of the consignment to Food Corporation of Bhutan in Phuentshogling, the remaining consignment arrived in Thimphu, yesterday.

Agriculture and Forests Minister Yeshey Dorji, during meet the press session yesterday said a kilogram of chilli was bought at Nu 15 to Nu 20 from Kolkata. The minister added the chillies are sold at Nu 40 per kilogram to the vegetable wholesalers in Phuentshogling. However, the vegetable vendors will not be allowed to charge more than Nu 50 for a kilogram. “The buyers should not pay above the fixed price” Lyonpo added.
