PM completes Samtse tour

pm-completes-samtse-tourThe Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay completed gewogs’ tour of Samtse Dzongkhag with Doomtoed as his last stop, today.

Lyonchhen began his tour from Phuentshopelri on November 3. As of now, the Prime Minister has covered 130 gewogs; meeting and discussing development activities and issues with people across the country.

Lyonchhen said he drew inspiration from His Majesty The King, who travels tirelessly to every nook and corner of the country personally meeting the people.

He said it is also to understand people better.

Today, he discussed issues ranging from health, central schools, farm roads, electricity, solar and electric fencing to power tillers.

Lyonchhoen explained the importance of various development activities implemented in the gewogs.

The Prime Minister promised to provide more resources to the public; however he urged them to use the resources provided by the government responsibly.

The Prime Minister also explained the budget allocated for the numerous development activities during the 11th Five Year plan.

Lyonchhen also said most of the black topping of gewogs’ connectivity roads will be completed in one year time and farm roads will be upgraded and maintained in coming year.

He also talked about the government’s 100 free units of electricity and encouraged people to use electric appliances at homes so pressure and dependent on fossil fuels would be lessen.

He also stressed on building the bio-gas plants for which the government is willing to provide subsidy to the interested people who wanted to construct bio-gas plants.

The Prime Minister also said all the chiwogs would have a power tiller each by the year 2018 and the government would provide an additional power tiller in the gewog within next one year.

He encouraged them to take up agriculture to attain the self- sufficiency.

Public were also informed to avail various opportunities provided by the government and take up initiatives to form cooperatives, take up Rural Enterprise Development Corporation Limited funded project to improve entrepreneurial projects at grassroots and engage in business.

Lyonchhen said people can avail loans from Rural Enterprise Development Corporation Limited (REDCL) at the 4 percent interest rate.

Lyonchhen also encouraged people to use greenhouses to improve vegetable production for which the government is willing to help them in any way possible.

He also stressed on the school enrollment and encouraged the parents to get their children enrolled and take advantage of facilities that are being provided by the Central Schools in the country.

In last six days, an estimated 5,000 people attended public meetings with the Prime Minister.
