1st NA sitting of the 2nd Parliament held

NA-1st-Sitting-of-2nd-ParlaimentThe first sitting of the National Assembly of the 2nd Parliament was held today. The members also took oath or affirmation of the office. The Secretary General of the Assembly, Kinzang Wangdi, read out His Majesty’s Kasho to commence the first sitting of the Assembly.

The members then elected Speaker and Deputy Speaker through a secret ballot. After a break, the members of the National Assembly adorned their blue scarves and patas.

The Chief Justice and Tshugla Lopen of the Central Monastic Body ushered Ku Sung Thukten to the National Assembly Hall as a symbolic representation of His Majesty the King.  The Ku Sung Thukten is then placed on the golden throne.

The Members of the National Assembly then took oath or affirmation of the office, as per the third schedule of the Constitution of Kingdom of Bhutan.

As per the fourth schedule of the Constitution of Kingdom of Bhutan, the Prime Minister, Speaker, Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Speaker took oath of Secrecy.
