GAsaHotSpringThe Gasa hot spring was washed away by a major flood in 2009. Although repair works have been completed; there has not been an official inauguration. Inauguration or not, visitors to the hot spring have not been deterred.

The Gasa hot spring was flooded thrice, but it was the 2009 flood that caused extreme damage. Repair works began in 2010 and most of it was completed by March 2012.

Besides repairing the hot spring, guest houses have also been constructed from the total budget of Nu. 56.3 million allocated for the development of the hot spring by the Bhutanese and Indian governments.

The Gasa Dzongdag, Sonam Jigme, says works on the guest houses are not complete yet and the dzongkhag will need at least two more years for the entire hot spring site to be completed.GAsaHotSpring. There are plans for a medical unit, a lhakhang, and even a parking lot at the site.

The Dzongdag told BBS that confusion over the completion of the site had begun aftersome media reports claimed the hot spring had been completed, encouraging premature visits to the hot spring.

He says, in actuality, works have been on-going on guest houses and other infrastructure.

The Dzongdag says Nu.41.73 million of the total budget has been spent so far, and that the remaining amount will be used to complete other construction work at the site.

The guest houses will accommodate 60 people at a time when completed.
