His Holiness the Je Khenpo presided over the Si Nyon ritual at the first three Jangchub Chorten sites in Gelephu today. The ritual follows three days of Si Drup prayers and seeks to suppress negative forces and avert obstacles ahead of the raising of the 108 chortens on 1st November.
At the first Jangchub Chorten site in Serzhong, His Holiness performed the ritual to subdue negative energies believed to obstruct the successful completion of the project.
The ritual was also conducted at the second and third chorten sites by His Holiness.
Khenpo Tashi Tshering of the Zhung Dratshang said, “Project 108 is a highly auspicious and significant event for the flourishing of Buddha Dharma. According to Buddhist beliefs, events of such importance may face negative forces and obstacles. The Si Nyon ritual is performed to subdue these forces, avert harm and remove obstacles, ensuring the successful completion of the project and contributing to the continued flourishing of Buddha Dharma.”
Similar rituals were conducted at the remaining chorten sites by various Lam Netens and Khenpos, while the Dorji Lopen presided over the Si Nyon ritual at the 108th and final chorten site.
The rituals are part of the spiritual preparations for Project 108, which will see 108 Jangchub Chortens raised along the Mau Chhu on 1 November.
With the Si Drup prayers completed and Si Nyon rituals conducted across all 108 sites, the project is nearing a major milestone. These spiritual preparations reflect the importance placed on ensuring the auspicious beginning and successful completion of the 108 Jangchub Chorten project.
