Defending champions Paro FC have returned to the top of the BOB Bhutan Premier League table after defeating Tsirang FC 2-0 at the Tsirang Artificial Turf today. The win takes Paro FC to 16 points from seven matches, two points ahead of second-placed Thimphu City FC.
Paro FC continued their impressive title defence with a comfortable 2-0 away win over Tsirang FC.
Paro FC opened the scoring in the 31st minute and sealed the victory with another goal in the 73rd minute.
The win takes the defending champions to 16 points from seven matches. They have won five matches, drawn one and lost one. Paro FC have scored 27 goals and conceded just seven, giving them the league’s best goal difference of plus 20.
Earlier on Saturday, Thimphu City FC had briefly moved to the top of the table after a dominant 7-1 away victory over Ugyen Academy FC.
Ugyen Academy took an early lead just 29 seconds into the match. Thimphu City equalised in the 28th minute and added three more goals before halftime. The visitors continued their attacking display in the second half to complete a convincing 7-1 win.
The victory lifted Thimphu City FC to 14 points from seven matches. They have scored 17 goals and conceded only five, with a goal difference of plus 12.
Despite today’s defeat, Tsirang FC remain fourth with 10 points, level with third-placed BFF Academy U-20, who hold a superior goal difference.
Drukpa FC and Transport United FC are fifth and sixth with nine points each. RTC FC and Thimphu FC have seven points apiece, while Tensung FC are ninth with five points.
Ugyen Academy FC remain at the bottom of the table with three points from seven matches. They have scored seven goals and conceded 32, leaving them with a goal difference of minus 25.
With only two points separating Paro FC and Thimphu City FC, the race for the Bhutan Premier League title is gathering momentum as the season progresses.
