
The Dorji Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang conferred Dhar to the newly appointed Chief Auditor, Vice Ritual Master, Paro Dumtse Lam and Trumpet Master at Punakha Dzong today.
48-year-old Phurba Dorji from Nyisho Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang has been appointed as the new Chief Auditor of the Zhung Dratshang. He joined the monk body at the age of 11 and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He received teachings from several revered religious masters and completed his three-year retreat from Chari Meditation Centre in Thimphu. Prior to his present post, he served as Duemang Secretary and the Lam of Chhimi Lhakhang in Punakha.
Likewise, 41-year-old Rinzin Dorji is the new Vice Ritual Master of the Tshenye Division of Pungthim Dratshang. He enrolled in the monk body at the age of 13 and graduated from Tango Buddhist University in Thimphu. He completed his three-year retreat at Paygiri Meditation Centre and served in various capacities at Tango Monastery prior to the present post.
Similarly, 38-year-old Nima Wangdi from Guma Gewog in Punakha has been appointed Lam of Dumtse Lhakhang in Paro. He joined the monk body at the age 13 and graduated from Tango Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University in Thimphu. Prior to his current appointment, he served in the Research Division of Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University.
And, 36-year-old Phurba Dorji from Toebisa Gewog in Punakha is the new Dunglop or Trumpet Master of Pungthim Dratshang. He joined the monk body at the age of 13 and completed his higher Buddhist studies from Lekshed Jungney Shedra in Punakha. He completed his three-year retreat from Chari Meditation Centre. He served as an assistant Dunglop prior to the present post.
