The journey to winning big this National Day has officially kicked off. The platform for Lucky Pem, a crowdsourced prize draw, went live this morning. It has already attracted a wave of participants, with numbers rising fast.
Lucky Pem is live on lucky.bt. And here’s the big highlight: one person, one ticket – giving everyone an equal chance to win.
To participate, whether a person is in Bhutan or abroad, all you need is a MyBhutanApp account and a DK Bank account.
As a crowd sourced celebration model, all the entry fees, Nu 1000 per person, are redistributed as prizes.
The system operates on a ‘Pool’ basis, where every group of 50 thousand participants creates a self-funded prize pot. Each pool will have three jackpot prizes of Nu 15 M, Nu 10 M, and Nu 5 M. In addition, 200 participants from every pool will win a consolation prize of Nu 100,000 each.
Mathematically, such a structure increases the probability of winning a prize.
Ahead of the main draw, warm-up pools with an entry fee of Nu 100 have also been introduced.

Ugyen Phuntsho Rabgay, the organiser of Lucky Pem said, “We have introduced warm up pools so that we know where the issues have been arising from and like how we can solve this issue within that period of time. So, we have 10 warm-up pools each day, so we hope that it will help all those who are participating to get used to the app.”
Behind the scenes, Lucky Pem uses a fully digital, secure and traceable system. All payments are done through DK Bank, and the draw is conducted using secure electronic randomisation.

Jigme Namgyal, the software engineer of ROM Tech said, “Before the pool is created we write down a secret number and lock it away. It’s like putting a paper in a box that nobody can open or change. And then we get a random number from a trusted international network like asking multiple countries around the world to roll a dice together at the same moment and nobody can predict or control this number. Then, we open our locked box, take our secret number, mix it with the Google random number and pick the winners. Because we locked our number before getting the global one there’s no way for anyone to cheat not even us. Then we give all the proof to the Anti-Corruption Commission and GovTech. They can check everything and confirm that the draw was fair. So, the system being used in lucky.bt is transparent and very secure.”
Lucky Pem will be open until 16th December, with its draw day on the National Day.
And as the countdown builds, the initiative stands to bridge excitement with innovation. While creating more winners, Lucky Pem adds a digital vibe to the National Day celebrations and highlights Bhutan’s ongoing pursuit of a more digital and connected future.
