Nearly half of the university graduates who sat for the Preliminary Exam of the Civil Service Examination earlier this month got through the exam. The results were declared today. The passing cut-off mark is 55. It was 50 last year. The overall pass percentage decreased by over 16 percentage points compared to last year. According to the RCSC, the cut-off point has been raised by five per cent after assessing past trends, total applicants, and available slots.
3,520 graduates sat for the exam this year, and 1,726 made it to the next round.
698 graduates with a Bachelor of Education, B.S. Nursing and MBBS students who are not required to sit for the preliminary exam will join them for the main exam.
That means 2,424 of them will have to compete for 696 jobs made available in the civil service.
45 seats are allocated for Public Administration and 30 for Finance Service. Additionally, 75 slots have been identified for the Post Graduate Diploma in Education, while 158 are for graduates with a Bachelor of Education. The highest allocation has been made for Technical Services, with 388 vacancies.
Document verification for candidates eligible to sit the main examination will be carried out in Thimphu from Monday till 3rd September.
Applicants are required to report in person with their original documents for the verification process.
The main examination will be held in October.
