The sixth round of the Bhutan Premier League 2025 kicked off today with a narrow home victory for Southern City FC over Samtse FC. While Paro FC continues its unbeaten run at the top of the table, the battle intensifies in the mid-table, and bottom-ranked teams struggle to stay afloat as the league heats up. Southern City FC edged past Samtse FC 1-0 at their home ground in Gelephu today. Both teams entered the match tied with 4 points after five rounds, but the home side found the breakthrough late in the second half.
With this win, Southern City moves up to 7 points in sixth position, while Samtse FC remains stuck at 4 points. Samtse has conceded a league-high 25 goals so far.
Meanwhile, Paro FC continues to dominate the league, winning all five matches so far. The defending champions have scored 17 goals and conceded just three, earning 15 points.
Thimphu City’s shock defeat to Tensung FC on Sunday means they remain second, level on points with Transport United. Thimphu and Transport are separated by goal difference.
RTC FC holds fourth with 10 points and boasts one of the most dangerous attacks, scoring 16 goals and conceding only three.
BFF Academy sits in fifth with 8 points after a solid 1-0 win over Southern City in Round 5.
Tensung’s win over Thimphu City earned them their first win and occupies the eighth place. After a 4-0 loss to Transport United in their last outing, Tsirang FC remains in ninth place.
And Ugyen Academy FC are rock bottom with just 1 point and has conceded 14 goals in five games. They were beaten 3-0 by Paro FC in the fifth round.
With the top three teams all strong on points, the mid-table race remains tight. Round 6 will end with leaders Paro FC hosting second-place Thimphu City FC on Sunday.
