Bhutan’s women national football team to make debut in AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers in Doha

The Bhutanese women’s national football team is all set to make its debut in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers 2026. The team has expressed confidence and determination to qualify for the prestigious tournament. Bhutan will compete in Group A alongside Iran, Jordan, Singapore, and Lebanon. The qualifiers will be held in Qatar’s capital, Doha, starting next month.

The Bhutan women’s national football team has been training hard over the past few months.

The players say they’re ready and excited to make their mark in the upcoming qualifiers.

Captain Pema Choden Tshering said “The team has been together since the tri-nation that Bhutan hosted a few weeks back. Since then we took a break and we are back together again trying to fix some problems from the tri-nation.”

Yeshi Bidha, one of the players said “We are prepared both mentally and physically. We are going to follow the coach’s plan and support each other.”

Bhutan’s Head Coach says he is feeling positive about the team’s progress and performance going into the tournament.

Head Coach Kim Tae-In said “The team has been thoroughly preparing for our upcoming matches. Through participation in the Tri-Nation Cup, we are actively working on areas that need improvement. Both the players and the coaching staff are feeling confident, and we look forward to showcasing some new tactical approaches starting from the very first match.”

Bhutan will face Singapore In their first match on the 7thof next month followed by Lebanon onthe 10th, Iran on the 13th, and Jordan on the 16th.

A total of 34 countries are participating in the qualifiers.

Only the group winners will advance to the final stage of the tournament, where they will join pre-qualified powerhouses China, South Korea, and Japan in Australia.
