The Impeachment Procedure Bill of Bhutan 2024 will be discussed in the upcoming Parliament session. According to the National Assembly, the Law Review Taskforce and the Office of the Attorney General recommended the new bill. The first session of the Fourth Parliament will start on the 9th of June.

Impeachment Procedure Bill was once deliberated in the National Council during the third Parliament. However, the National Council had to withdraw the Bill after the National Assembly rejected stating that not all provisions of the Constitution are implemented.

According to the deputy speaker of the National Assembly, the Impeachment Procedure Bill of Bhutan 2024 is based on the requirement of the Constitution and upon the recommendation of the Law Review Taskforce and the Office of the Attorney General.

“The Impeachment Procedure Bill is based on Article 32 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan that we are required to legislate the Impeachment Act. If the holders of the constitutional offices transgress the law and abrogate their oath, the Parliament will have to take action,” said Sangay Khandu, Deputy Speaker.

Similarly, the National Assembly will also discuss the National Assembly (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2024.

The House will also deliberate on the Budget Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2024-2025, the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2023-2024, report on the draft 13th Five Year Plan, and Air Services Agreement between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the State of Kuwait.

The prime minister will present the State of the Nation report, including legislative plans and priorities of the government during the Joint Sitting of Parliament.

Similarly, the Public Accounts Committee will present its review reports of the Annual Audit Report 2022-2023 and the Annual Audit Reports from 2010-2022.
