Hand stitching is an age-old tradition that is on the verge of disappearance. In an effort to promote this ancient skill among artisans and craftsmen, a training programme with 30 participants from various Civil Society Organisations and private designing boutiques was conducted in the capital, Thimphu.
The training conducted by the Agency for Promotion of Indigenous Crafts is funded by the European Union. The agency said for export purposes, hand-stitched products are preferred over products that are stitched with machines.
