The 1.8-kilometre internal road within the Samdrup Jongkhar Bar constituency under Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde has made travelling much easier for people residing there.

The road became trafficable two months ago. Earlier, to drive to hospital or Samdrup Jongkhar Middle Secondary School from the constituency, residents had to drive from the main highway which was time consuming. “Now, we can drive to our coveted destinations easily,” said one of the residents, Kencho Tsheten.

The thromde office said to reduce traffic congestion along the main highway and for safety of students; they constructed the internal road with funds of Nu 17m. Additional facilities such as streetlights and pedestrian pathway will be built in coming days.
