Top 10 revenue generating companies

About Nu. 8.4 billion was collected in 2010-2011 from the top 10 revenue agencies in the country. These agencies contributed 47.3 percent to the total revenue.

Druk Green Power Corporation is the highest contributor to the government’s revenue. It contributed over Nu. 3.4 billion. However, the contribution declined compared to the previous year by around Nu. 73 million.

Contributing over Nu. 2.7 billion Druk Holding and Investments is the second highest contributor. It saw an increase of 2.5 percent from the previous year.

The Tourism Council of Bhutan is the third highest contributor. It contributed over Nu. 550 million. Collection from TCB constitutes royalty on tourism and taxes.

Bhutan Power Corporation has contributed about Nu. 340 million, registering a growth of 41.2 percent from the previous year. The increase in the sale of electricity and reduction in the wheeling tariff has contributed towards its growth.

Bank of Bhutan with its contribution of close to Nu. 250 million is the fifth highest contributor to the government exchequer.

Receipts from Road Safety and Transport Authority, RSTA on account of motor vehicle tax, fees and charges for the year stands at about Nu.225 million.

The Department of Lottery contributed about Nu. 210 million for the year. Revenues from Royal Monetary Authority constituted 1.1 percent of the total revenue. It contributed over Nu. 180 million.

Meanwhile, Penden Cement Authority and Bhutan Telecom contributed about Nu. 170 million and over Nu. 150 million to the government exchequer respectively.
