A 78- year-old lay monk(Gomchen) died in a fire mishap in Tsirang, yesterday. The incident happened when the altar room located in the attic of a building erupted in flames.
The deceased was reported to have suffered from third degree burn. The house owner also suffered from minor burns.
The fire was said to have sparked from a burning butter lamp in the altar. Fire fighting unit, RBP, Dzongkhag officials, and locals brought the fire under control before the entire house could be engulfed into flames.
