His Majesty the King has appointed Dasho Kunzang Wangdi as the Chief Election Commissioner, Dasho Neten Zangmo as the Chairperson of Anti-Corruption Commission and Ugyen Chhewang as Auditor General yesterday.

In accordance with Article 2.19 (e) (f) and (g) of the Constitution, His Majesty the King today appointed Dasho Kunzang Wangdi as the Chief Election Commissioner, Dasho Neten Zangmo as the Chairperson of Anti-Corruption, and Ugyen Chewang as the Auditor General.

His Majesty also awarded Kabney and Patang to the Auditor General Ugyen Chhewang.

Dasho Kunzang Wangdi joined civil service in 1977. He has a Masters Degree in Public administration from Penn University, USA. Dasho is a recipient of Druk Thuksey Medal and the coronation medal.

Dasho Neten Zangmo has served as the chairperson of the Anti-Corruption Commission over the last five years. Before that she served as the Foreign Secretary. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters Degree in Technical Education.

Ugyen Chhewang served as the Auditor General since 2005. He has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Pension and Provident Fund. He joined the civil service in 1979 as a trainee officer in the Royal Audit Authority. He has a Masters in Business Administration in Business Management and Accounting from Syracuse University, New York, USA.

According to a Royal Kasho, the appointment has been made so that their term does not coincide with the term of the elected government and general elections.

Following an audience in the Throne Room, the Chief Justice of Bhutan, Lyonpo Sonam Tobgye, administered the affirmation of office and affirmation of secrecy to the three constitutional post holders in the Kuenray of the Tashichhodzong.
