business-licenses-can-be-applied-and-renewed-onlineBusiness licenses can now be applied or renewed online. The government today launched 34 online Government to Business or G2B Services.

The G2C Office under the Prime Minister’s Office launched the services in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay graced the launching ceremony.

Various business services, provided by Departments under Ministry of Economic Affairs, are included in the online G2B services.

The services include issuance of new license, renewal, change of license for micro trade, retail, wholesale, cottage and many others.

Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay described the launching of the 34 online business services as significant milestone, due to sheer number of services being offered online.

“It is no longer acceptable for our business community to endure long waiting lines and frequent visits to government offices that are anchored on a paper-based and personality driven system.”

Lyonchhen also said the important impact of this system worth noting is the accountability and transparency.

“Online system will reduce the interface with public officials, which in turn will promote accountability and transparency – the basic tenets of democracy.

The application of the 34 services will be carried online.

After submitting documents and verification done by the ministry, applicants will receive text message, directing them to collect certificate and make payment.

The online service is expected to reduce waiting time, streamline procedures and improve public delivery in line with the mandate of the G2C Office.

Following the launch, the services were handed over to the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The services will be integrated with the Prime Minister eDesk for effective monitoring and continuity of the services.
