RCSC recommends phasing out Gyadrung postThe Royal Civil Service Commission’s Organisational Development exercise recommends the Home Ministry phase out the post of Gyadrungs.

However, the home ministry maintains they will decide only after the completion of their internal survey.

Department of Local Governance started internal survey two months ago by sending out letters to all the gewogs asking if there is a need for a Gyadrung.

A Gyadrung drafts official letters for gewog offices. They also assist Gups to settle social disputes. They are on a contract basis.

Meanwhile, some Gyadrungs are looking forward to a prompt decision from the government. They say they want to contest for the upcoming Local Government elections.

However, the Department of Local Governance under the Home Ministry says they haven’t received any official information from the RCSC.
