PCAL to revise wage rate for foreign workers(Update): The Management of Penden Cement Authority Limited (PCAL) in Gomtu has agreed to pay the foreign workers equivalent wage to that of Bhutanese workers. From June, they will be paid Nu 215 a day.

The decision comes following a strike called on by about 70 Indian laborers working for the PCAL, last week.

They had said the management failed to pay them the minimum wage rate fixed by the government. They were paid Nu 125 a day; Nu 90 less than what Bhutanese laborers are paid.
