Dasho Sangay Wangchug, the Deputy Chairperson of the Royal Privy Council and the cultural expert passed away, last night. Dasho reportedly died of lung cancer at one of the hospitals in Thiland’s capital, Bangkok where he was undergoing treatment.
Dasho Sangay Wangchug was conferred orange scarf by His Majesty the King in July, this year. He was also awarded Red Scarf by His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo in 1998. Dasho had served the civil service in many important positions for more than three decades.
Apart from being a cultural expert, Dasho was known to have profound knowledge on Buddhist philosophy.
