The Kudung of the late former Drabi Lopen of the Central Monastic Body, Kinley Gyaltshen, was taken to Lekshey Jungney Shedra in Punakha, today. Lopen Kinley Gyaltshen, passed away on the first of January 1.

Lopen Kinley Gyaltshen was 67. He joined the monastic institution at the age of five and was the first principal of the Cheri, Phajoding and Dechenphodrang monastic schools. Late Lopen Kinley Gyaltshen was also the senior principal of the Tango Buddhist College in 1988. He served as the Drabi Lopen from 1999 to 2002 and later was the principal of the Lekshey Jungney Shedra in Punakha.

The Kanglung Khenpo, Karma Rangdol, a former student of Lopen Kinley Gyaltshen said after Je Thrizur Tenzin Dhendup coordinated and instituted all Shedras and Drubdeys, Lopen Rinpochhe worked hard in the Shedras. “As a result of which, most important lamas in Shedras, Dratshangs and Drubdeys all happen to be Lopen Rinpochhe’s students. Lopen Rinpochhe dedicated his life to the well-being of the country, people, and sentient beings.”

The former Drabi Lopen, Late Kinley Gyaltshen, was awarded the prestigious Druk Thuksey by His Majesty the King in December last year.
