East-West Highway should be completed within three years- PM.A consultative meeting between Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, and contractors from across the country was held in the capital, today. Around 500 contractors attended the meeting.

The meeting was to familiarise the contractors about the scope of work in up-gradation of North East-West Highway from Thimphu to Trashigang. The Prime Minister said the project should be completed within three years. Prime Minister said that he would not compromise on the quality of the road.

Some of contractors, on the other hand, say the quality of the road would depend on the amount of money.

The widening of 385-kilometre East-West highway is estimated to cost more than Nu.7.2 BN of an approved budget of more than Nu.4.6 BN.
