Bhutan Volleyball Federation neglectedThe Bhutan Sports Baseline Survey says volleyball is the third most played sport in the country. However, the Bhutan Volleyball Federation is neglected. It is administered by a solitary person and that too, who works on a voluntary basis.

Bhutan Volleyball Federation was affiliated under Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) in 1996.

Tshewang Nidup, 46, joined the federation in 2009 as a volunteer coach. He says juggling between technical and administrative part of the federation is quite a challenge.

The Secretary General of Bhutan Olympic Committee, Sonam Karma Tshering says they will build up the administrative capacity soon. He said they also need to appoint a new General Secretary. He also said the federation itself will elect a new President.

He added one of the proposals within the BOC Executive Committee has been to appoint full-time General Secretaries who will then look after the Federation full-time.

There are 15 federations under the Bhutan Olympic Committee.
