MonggarCourt-GyalpoizhingLandCaseThe Monggar Court passed a summary judgment on the Gyalpoizhing land case to 18 individuals, this afternoon.  It is called summary verdict when people submit the statement saying they will abide by the decision of the court.

The 18 people are former Prime Minister, Jigmi Y.Thinley, former minister Yeshey Zimba, Pem Choden, Late Ugyen Jamyang Temphel, Pema Choden, Chencho Tshering, Ugyen Galay, Karma Youden, Dowa Zangmo, Pema Wangmo, Yangzom, Sonam Norbu, Sonam Tobgay, Uchi, Tenzin Wangchuk, Chador, Pema Choden and Gyeltshen.

The court has ordered the restitution of land stating that everything is null and void if the first act is illegal.

The judgment pronounces that the plot allotment had been illegal. The recipient is to now get a refund of the actual cost of the land paid to the government, but those who had availed of kidu timber must refund the timber in cash at market rates to the government.

The Monggar court will be passing 20 more summary judgments soon.
