Ambassador of Republic of Korea calls on PM

PM+Ambassador-Republic of Korea-Lee Yun-young. The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Lee Yun-young, called on the Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang, yesterday.

Lyonchhen said the Bhutanese government continues to attach high importance to its relations with the Republic of Korea. The Prime Minister also expressed his admiration for the remarkable economic progress the Republic of Korea has made in the past few decades.

The Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their stay in Bhutan. He also commended on Bhutan’s unique development philosophy of Gross National Happiness.

Lyonchhen thanked the Government of Republic of Korea for the continued assistance through KOICA since 1995, and most recently, for supporting the Bhutanese Film Industry.

They also discussed strengthening cooperation in areas such as Human Resources and private sector development, and tourism, & FDIs.

The Ambassador also agreed to explore assistance for procuring two helicopters to be used mainly for relief and rescue operations in Bhutan.

Ambassador Yun-young is in the country to attend the 12th Round Table Meeting and host the Korean Film Festival.
