SAARC food bank board meeting begins

SAARC-food-bank-board-meetingThe sixth board meeting of SAARC food bank board began in the capital, today. During the two-day meeting members will deliberate on transaction of grains, in case of emergencies, and food shortages, review on threshold on withdrawal of food grains, storage methods and practices, establishment of food analysis laboratories among others.

The SAARC Food Bank was established during the 14th Summit in 2007 in New Delhi, India. The objective is to act as a regional food security reserve for the SAARC member countries during normal time food shortages and emergencies.
