Another illegal sandalwood consignment caught in Paro

IllegalSandalwood-ParoThe Divisional Forest Office in Paro has caught another illegal sandalwood consignment. Following a tip-off, officials were able to seize a sandalwood smuggling consignment weighing 554 kilogrammes carried on 25 horsebacks.

The smugglers were apprehended on September 19 Jimdingkha in Tsento Gewog.

The main offender from Tsento Gewog was fined about Nu. 420,000. This is the third illegal consignment seized by the forestry officials in Paro.IllegalSandalwood-Paro.

Over 1,000 kilogrammes of sandalwood were intercepted by the officials in July and August this year.
