Standing 42 metres tall, the chorten is equivalent to a building of about 14 storeys, making it the largest Du-dhuel Namgyel Chorten in the country.

Construction began in 2015 as a community initiative of the people of Ura Dozhi to mark the 60th birthday of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. The project is also part of His Majesty’s Project, with funding support from His Majesty The King.
However, challenging climatic conditions and the need for people to balance construction work with their farming activities delayed the project, extending the construction period to more than a decade.
Karma Wangdi, Coordinator of Ura Gewog, Bumthang, said the community was pleased to have finally completed the long-awaited chorten and was preparing for its consecration on 7th November.
Karma Wangdi said devotees from across Bumthang are expected to attend and offer prayers.

For the people of Ura, the completion of the chorten marks the fulfilment of a long-held aspiration and the creation of a lasting spiritual landmark for generations to come.
