How many times have you filled in the same personal details or submitted the same documents while applying for different government services? A new digital system launched by the Bhutan Qualifications and Professional Certification Authority (BQPCA) aims to change that. The integrated digital regulatory system connects BQPCA services with other government databases, reducing paperwork and making it easier for professionals and institutions to access services.
The system brings services such as professional registration, accreditation, quality assurance, certification, monitoring and continuous professional development online.
More importantly, the platform is connected to key government systems. This allows information to be verified and shared securely instead of being entered manually each time.
For service providers, this could save significant time.
“There are a lot of challenges when we do work manually. We have to enter the CID number, village, parents’ names and other details separately, which takes time. But now, with the system integrated with the Department of Civil Registration and Census, we just need to enter the CID number, and the other details will automatically appear. This will save time and, at the same time, improve the accuracy of the data,” said Ugyen Tshewang, Director, Bhutan Qualifications and Professionals Certification Authority.
With the new system, citizens and institutions will no longer have to repeatedly provide information that is already available with the government agencies.
Officials said the integration will help reduce duplication, improve data accuracy and shorten processing time.
The system was developed in partnership with Druk Smart Private Limited, with the GovTech Agency providing digital infrastructure support.
At the launch, officials said digital transformation should go beyond simply putting services online. The focus now will be on making these systems work together so that services become simpler, faster and more convenient for the people.
