Amid growing public anxiety over potential supply disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Bhutan Oil Distributor in Thimphu reportedly sold out all of its LPG cylinders today, fueling further concerns about fuel availability. The public believe the shortage could be triggered by the widening confrontation involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which has already driven up energy prices and rattled fuel markets internationally.

The Bhutan Oil Distributor in Thimphu this morning sold more than 500 LPG cylinders within few hours, with even higher numbers recorded the previous day, raising concerns of possible hoarding by consumers.

Sources at BOD said the sudden spike in sales is unusual compared to normal daily distribution figures.

However, the Bhutan Oil Distributor said that although it has run out of LPG stock in Thimphu, fresh supplies are expected to arrive soon.

NDTV yesterday reported that India is in a comfortable position in terms of crude oil and gas. Government sources reportedly told the Indian television company that India has a stock of reserve for crude oil to last for 25 days.

BBS has contacted the finance ministry for further information regarding the supply situation and has yet to receive a response.
