Access to essential infrastructure such as roads is vital for everyone. Although farm roads have been built nationwide, many people face problems with their usability. The farm road to Raminang Chiwog in Gasa’s Lunana Gewog is one such example. Residents in Raminang hope that the new government will upgrade the road, starting from the junction in Goen Tshephu in Punakha to their village.

Lunana Gewog consists of five chiwogs, and only Raminang Chiwog, the one closest to the district centre, has a motorable road.

The road, starting from the Goen Tshephu junction, contains potholes and is strewn with stones, creating difficulties for vehicles to navigate.

Raminang Tshogpa Norbu Tshering said, “Vehicles like Bolero pick-up trucks are the only ones suited for this road; smaller vehicles have no chance. Additionally, there is a steep stretch along the road.”

The Gewog Tshogde brought the issue to the attention of the district planning division, urging priority for road blacktopping in the 13th Five-Year Plan.

“Regardless of which party forms the new government, we, the people, hope they will blacktop the road in the 13th Five-Year Plan. The road is now more stable than before,” said Norbu Tshering.

During the recent general round public debate for the Khamaed_Lunana Constituency, the Bhutan Tendrel Party candidate pledged to renovate the road, ensuring year-round usability. The People’s Democratic Party also committed to blacktopping the road.

The construction of the road to Raminang began in 2015 and was completed in 2018. The Chiwog has five households.
