Five more athletes failed to book their places in the next round of matches yesterday and today in the ongoing Asian Games being held in Hangzhou, China. This means 12 Bhutanese athletes have now exited the Asian Games.

In today’s events, swimmers Kinley Lhendup and Sangay Tenzin could not finish in the top spots to qualify further into the competition. Boxer Tashi Yoezer’s loss yesterday meant all three Bhutanese boxers have also exited the Asian Games.

In taekwondo, three of the four taekwondo athletes have been eliminated from the tournament so far.

Tomorrow, taekwondo athlete Nima Wangdi will face Duisebay Smaiyl of Kazakhstan in the men’s 80-plus kg category and shooter Tandin Wangchuk will compete in the 10-metre air pistol individual’s category.
