HH Je Khenpo confers Dhar to newly appointed Lams

His Holiness the Je Khenpo has appointed the new Lam Neten of Chhukha along with the new lams of three monasteries. His Holiness conferred Dhar to the new appointees at the Trashichhoedzong today.

His Holiness the Je Khenpo has appointed Jigme Wangchuk from Trashigang as the new Lam Neten of the Chhukha district.  The 46-year-old became a monk at the age of 8 by joining the Trashigang Rabdhey where he learnt the skills of performing ceremonial rituals. He later graduated from the Tango University of Buddhist Studies. He completed his three-year retreat from Cheri Drubdhey. Before his present appointment, he was serving as the principal of the Samkhar monastic school.

33-year-old Kinga Namgay from Trongsa has been appointed as the new lam of Tshachhuphu Goenpa in Punakha. Lam Kinga joined monkhood as a 13-year-old and learned the skills of performing ceremonial rituals and later graduated from the Tango University of Buddhist Studies. He completed three-year retreats at the Cheri Drubdhey as well as at the Tshamdra Goempa Drubdhey.

Meanwhile, 41-year-old Tashi Dorji has been appointed as the new lam of the Rinchhending monastery in Phuentsholing. Lam Tashi became a monk at the age of 11, learning skills in performing ceremonial rituals and then graduated from Tango University. He completed his three-year retreat at the Cheri Drubdhey. He was previously serving as a teacher at the Cheri monastery.

And Kinley Tenzin is the new lam of the Umtekha monastery in Punakha. The 51-year-old is a native of the same place. He became a monk at the age of eight and later learned the skills of performing ceremonial rituals from the Dechhen Phodrang monastic school in Thimphu. He later graduated from the Tango University. Before his present appointment, he was the Sungkhop of the Khamsum Namgyel Chhoeten.
