Punakha is vibrant on Zhabdrung Kuchoe, with the opening of a beautiful new Ka Ja Throm. The Punakha Ka Ja Throm opened today to enthusiastic visitors, who came to enjoy the gardens, food, live music, and the festive atmosphere of the farmer’s market.

Located at the site of the old weekend market in Khuruthang, the Punakha Ka Ja Throm was developed as a community and recreation space alongside the Farmer’s Market.

Punakha Ka Ja Throm has gardens and green spaces, art and garden installations, as well as public toilets and conveniences, around the areas for vegetable and fruit vendors to display their produce.

De-suung Skilling Project has several stalls displaying craft products and food stalls. The market includes Garuda, a cafe and bar by the river, run by De-suups.

Punakha Ka Ja Throm was developed by the Greening Team, partnering with Punakha Dzongkhag and De-suung.
