Residents of Goling Chiwog in Zhemgang are frustrated with the worsening condition of the Goling- Tshanglajong farm road. Villagers said the road has not seen major maintenance for the last eight years.

Villagers of Goling Chiwog at Nangkor Gewog in Zhemgang travel along this road to reach the nearest town, Tingtibi to sell farm produce and buy goods. Although the farm road is just about 2 kilometres, it is in bad condition.

They say it is risky to travel along the road.

The road falls under Trong Gewog but it is used by the people of Goling Chiwog in Nangkor Gewog.

“We are facing a problem as the Gewogs blame each other. The road falls under Trong Gewog but it is us, the people of Goling chiwog who use it,” said Ugyen Penjor, a resident.

“Drivers are reluctant to travel along this road saying that if their vehicles get damaged, they cannot get the spare parts,” said Tandin Dorji, another resident.

According to the Goling Tshogpa, they have proposed the Trong Gewog administration to provide them with machinery support.

“We had a meeting and proposed the Trong Gewog administration to provide machinery. And from our side, we will contribute labour. We hope the Gup of Trong Gewog administration will support it at the earliest,” said Tashi Dorji, Goling Tshogpa.

And as per Trong Gewog Administration, they will propose to blacktop the farm road in the next Gewog Tshogde.

The road which was constructed in 2006 benefits around hundred households in Goling and some five households in Tshanglajong in Trong Gewog.
