The annual Jungwa Chidoe Kurim began today at the Pangrizampa College of Astrology. The nine-day prayer for peace, protection, and national well-being is presided over by the former Tshogki Lopen, with around 200 monks taking part.

This year, however, prayers are mainly being offered for ongoing wars and global conflicts, and for the success of the Gelephu Mindfulness City.

“People who come here should pray for an end to the ongoing wars and conflicts, and also for the success of His Majesty’s vision of the GMC without any obstacles,” said Sonam Rinchen, the vice- princcipal of the Pangrizampa College of Astrology.

The Kurim is also conducted to avert natural calamities, ward off misfortunes, and mitigate obstacles for individuals who attend the prayer.

The ritual is performed annually with a budget of around Nu 5 M. The ritual will conclude next Thursday.
