It has been more than three weeks since the bridge over Demola River was damaged by the swollen river. This has cut off the Dewathang-Samdrupcholing highway in Samdrup Jongkhar.

An official from the Department of Roads in Samdrup Jongkhar says they are trying to open the highway to traffic by this month. The department will launch an 80-foot-long bailey bridge. The construction of the foundation is completed and soon works on launching the bridge will begin.

Currently, with the highway blocked, escort service is facilitated between Samrang and Samdrup Jongkhar through the Indian highway.
