More than 26,000 students of classes X and XII across the country will sit for the board examinations tomorrow. The education ministry and BCSEA, during a live panel on BBS last night announced that all the necessary arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of the examination. The announcement comes amid confusion among both students and parents with some students testing positive for the Coronavirus in the last few days.

According to the education ministry, arrangements have already been made for the students who tested positive for COVID-19. The ministry announced through its official Facebook page that these students will sit for exams from the isolation facilities. They will be supervised by invigilators equipped with PPE.

Similar arrangements are also made for the students in the quarantine facilities and in red buildings and clusters.

As of yesterday, more than 130 students across the country tested positive for COVID-19. And more than 170 students are in quarantine facilities.

In Thimphu, there are 17 examination centres in the respective mega zones. Lungtenzampa Middle Secondary School is one of the centres where close to 300 students of classes X and XII will sit for the exam.

Bus service will also be provided for students in Thimphu who have to walk for more than half an hour to reach their examination centre.

Meanwhile, more than 20,000 students along with around 4,500 invigilators and staff are already in schools, operating in containment mode. They will sit for the exams in the respective schools.

The office of the Prime Minister, through its official Facebook page, said that another opportunity will be given towards the end of March for the students who are unable to appear the exam this time.

The office also announced that parents of students who test positive can choose to stay with their children at the centre, adding that counselling service will also be made available especially for the students in the isolation facilities.
