All former gups sail through Damngoi Zomdu in SJ

Most of the former gups in SamdrupJongkhar will run for the upcoming election. The Dhamngoi Zomdu or selection procedure for the third local government election in 11 gewogs ended yesterday. Of nine former gups, eight have been nominated.

Only the former gup of Serthig Gewog was not nominated for the election.

The former gups of Lauri and Orong gewogs did not take part in the zomdu.

Samdrup Jongkhar selected 31 gup candidates.

With four candidates each, Orong and Pemathang Gewogs have the highest number of gup candidates.

And 38 candidates will contest for the post of Mangmi. As per the notification from the Election Commission, the candidates will have to file their nominations with the commission by Monday.
